Gp Intercompany set up as DBA's

I am wondering if an appropriate application of Intercompany set up is use with DBA's.  We have one corporate entity and 4 DBA's.  Intercompy appears to resolve most of our issues with items such as freight posting to the corporate entity and not posting to the separate DBA's.  Please let me know if DBA's is a proper application of Intercompany or if Intercompany only is to be used for separate corporate entities.
