Would a sales backorder or sales order trigger a manufacturing order?

I was wondering if I enter a backorder or a sales order and there's not enough pieces for such item, would the MRP would suggest us to input a manufacturing order to fulfill such items?

Also can a backorder be transfered to a sales order?
